LANDSCAPE CONTRACTORS
Garden Contracting: Costing Projects and Maintenance Deals
A villa garden is handed over in full bloom. Six weeks later the lawn is patchy, the client blames your plants, and the gardener you sent was reassigned. Nobody wrote down who was supposed to maintain what.
We help you run the business behind the garden: costing by project, plant and material sourcing, gardener teams, maintenance contracts and staged payments. That excludes plant selection, soil science or irrigation design. A horticulturist or your design consultant handles that.
Discuss your priorities ↗COMMON CHALLENGES
The pressures
we often see.
- 01Projects are priced on a rate per square foot that hides the cost of soil filling, transport, labour days and plant loss in the first weeks.
- 02Nursery suppliers quote different prices for the same plants through the season, and purchases are made site by site without a standing arrangement.
- 03Handover is treated as the end, so maintenance contracts are never offered or are agreed verbally and then forgotten.
- 04Gardeners are paid daily and move between sites, and quality varies depending on who turned up and what tools they carried.
- 05Large payments depend on stage approvals by builders or clients, and delays stretch the cash cycle while nursery dues remain.

START THIS WEEK
Things you can do
before you call anyone.
- Pick one completed project and rebuild its cost from bills, wages and transport. Compare with what you quoted. Do the same for the next one before you quote again.
- List every handed-over garden from the past year and mark which ones pay you for maintenance. Call three of the others this week to talk about care.
- Hypothetical example: if a lawn patch needs replanting at Rs 15,000 for want of maintenance visits, a fee of Rs 2,500 a month would have covered it and kept the client.
- Write the stage payments on one sheet for your biggest open project and compare with money received. Note which stage the client has not approved yet.
A PRACTICAL ENGAGEMENT
Start with the priorities
that matter most.
We begin by understanding how your business runs today, find the gaps, and agree the scope in writing. Recommendations are shaped around your team, your resources and your goals.
- A costing sheet that turns a site walk into a quote with margin shown
- A maintenance contract outline and a pricing worksheet for the owner to complete
- A gardener roster and site task chart that names one lead per site
- A handover pack covering care instructions, who to call and the first review date
Not the right fit when: Not yet, if plants are failing from a soil or disease problem, or a drainage fault is damaging a building; a horticulturist or engineer should look first.
