GROCERY STORES AND SUPERMARKETS
Kirana and Supermarket Owner: Shelf, Cash and Shrinkage
The WhatsApp list arrives at 8 pm, written by hand and photographed at an angle. Your helper reads it the next morning, two items are out of stock, and the customer who has bought from you for years switches to a quick-delivery app for the week.
We help you set up order intake, reorder points for fast movers and an expiry check routine. We coach your counter staff and delivery boys. We stay out of food safety, legal metrology or tax matters; the relevant authorities and your professional adviser cover those.
Discuss your priorities ↗COMMON CHALLENGES
The pressures
we often see.
- 01Orders come by phone, chat and walk-in, and nobody owns the list, so items are missed and delivery times slip.
- 02Fast movers run out while slow packs sit near expiry, because ordering is done from the owner's eye and not from what sold.
- 03Suppliers and company salesmen push schemes, and the owner buys extra of a brand to earn a scheme that the shop cannot sell through.
- 04Shrinkage, small thefts and billing errors are discovered only at stock-taking, if at all, and nobody can say when they began.
- 05Regular customers take goods on credit, and the notebook of dues grows heavier every festival.
OUR FOCUS AREAS
Where the work
usually starts.
- 01A written reorder level for the top fifty items by sales, reviewed every week
- 02Expiry-date check by shelf and category, with a list of what to discount
- 03A single order register for phone, chat and walk-in orders with packing and delivery times
- 04Supplier scheme arithmetic: what you must buy against what you can sell
- 05Weekly count of a few high-value and high-theft items against the register
- 06Credit ledger of regular customers with limits and due dates
- 07Counter cash, UPI and card totals compared with billing each night
- 08Delivery boy trips by area and the number of orders per trip
START THIS WEEK
Things you can do
before you call anyone.
- Pick your twenty fastest-selling items and write the number you sell in a normal week next to each. Use it to set a reorder level today.
- Hypothetical example: a supplier offers a free carton for every ten cartons of a biscuit. If you sell six cartons a month, buying ten ties up cash for nearly two months.
- Ask one staff member to own the home-order list, starting tonight. Each order gets a time, an address and a packed-by name.
- Spend an hour on one shelf bay this week and pull out everything within a month of expiry. Price it to clear.
A PRACTICAL ENGAGEMENT
Start with the priorities
that matter most.
We begin by understanding how your business runs today, find the gaps, and agree the scope in writing. Recommendations are shaped around your team, your resources and your goals.
- A reorder-level sheet for fast movers with a weekly ordering routine
- An expiry and markdown checklist for each shelf section
- A single order register and delivery plan for home orders
- A credit and shrinkage review format that the owner can run every week
Not the right fit when: Hold off if the immediate problem is a food safety notice, a weights and measures complaint or a licence issue. Those need the authority or a professional.
