PLYWOOD AND TIMBER DEALERS
Plywood and Timber Dealer: Carpenter Accounts and Godown Stock
A carpenter picks the plywood, tells the homeowner which shop to pay, and takes the order home in a tempo. If he is happy with the finish and the credit, the next job comes back to you, and if not, it goes to the dealer next door.
We help you set terms for carpenter and contractor accounts, count stock by grade and thickness, and cost cutting and delivery. We coach your counter and godown staff. We do not cover timber sourcing laws, product grading or tax matters.
Discuss your priorities ↗COMMON CHALLENGES
The pressures
we often see.
- 01Carpenters and contractors take material on credit with informal understanding, and the owner finds out the balance only when someone asks for a bill.
- 02Sheets and logs are stored in many grades and sizes, and the owner cannot say how much is damp, damaged or too old to sell at full price.
- 03Cutting to size, edge banding and delivery are offered as favours, though they use labour, power and vehicles that the shop pays for.
- 04Brand schemes and price changes by manufacturers move quickly, and the shop holds stock bought at the earlier rate.
- 05Homeowners compare quotes online, and the counter staff cannot explain differences in grade, thickness and brand in a way that supports the price.

Things you can do
before you call anyone.
- List your ten busiest carpenters with the outstanding against each. Visit or call the top three and agree a payment date.
- Hypothetical example: cutting 50 sheets takes a helper one day at ₹700 plus ₹300 of power, so ₹1,000. Offering it for nothing costs ₹20 per sheet in each order.
- Walk the godown with a notepad and mark sheets showing damp or edge damage. Decide a price for each and sell them first.
- Write a short note on the difference between your top three grades, in words a homeowner understands. Keep it at the counter.
A PRACTICAL ENGAGEMENT
Start with the priorities
that matter most.
We begin by understanding how your business runs today, find the gaps, and agree the scope in writing. Recommendations are shaped around your team, your resources and your goals.
- A carpenter and contractor account sheet with credit limits and review routine
- A stock count format by grade and thickness
- A service charge list for cutting, banding and delivery
- A counter explanation card and a quote format for homeowners and builders
Not the right fit when: This does not fit if the pressing matter is a dispute over timber legality, a licence or a transport permit. A legal professional and the authority must handle that.
