SKATING ACADEMIES
Skating Academy Owner's Guide to Rink Hours and Coach Cost
Saturday morning the rink is crowded with trial children, and two of your three coaches are on the floor while one handles the front desk. On Tuesday afternoon the same rink is silent. Skates are returned in mixed pairs, and a few go missing.
We help you plan rink hours, coach duties and gear stock, and set a routine that turns Saturday trials into regular members. We stick to running the business. Teaching skating and setting safety standards stay with your qualified coaches.
Discuss your priorities ↗COMMON CHALLENGES
The pressures
we often see.
- 01The rink earns heavily on weekends and almost nothing on weekday afternoons, but the surface, rent and power cost the same for every hour.
- 02Trial sessions are enjoyable chaos, and no one is clearly responsible for calling the families afterwards, so most trials never become enrolments.
- 03Coaches double as front desk and gear handlers on busy days, which pulls them away from the children who need attention.
- 04Rental skates, helmets and pads wear out and go missing, and replacement decisions happen only after a shortage on a busy Saturday.
- 05Children progress at different speeds, and parents get restless when no clear skill levels are explained to them.
OUR FOCUS AREAS
Where the work
usually starts.
- 01Rink-hours sold versus available, weekday and weekend
- 02Trial sessions booked, attended and converted, with a named follow-up owner
- 03Coach roster separating coaching, front desk and gear duties
- 04Rental gear register with size, condition and replacement date
- 05Skill level chart and promotion criteria shared with parents
- 06Fee card with monthly, quarterly and trial-credit rules
- 07Weekday slots offered to schools, societies or birthday parties
- 08Surface and equipment maintenance schedule with cost per month
START THIS WEEK
Things you can do
before you call anyone.
- Count the children who attended a trial in the last month and how many joined. If no one tracked this, start a sheet with name, parent contact and a call date.
- Hypothetical example: if 40 children try a Saturday and the academy converts 8, each extra conversion at ₹2,000 a month is worth ₹24,000 a year. A call routine is cheaper than a new advert.
- Take inventory of every pair of rental skates and helmets this week. Mark each as good, repairable or retired.
A PRACTICAL ENGAGEMENT
Start with the priorities
that matter most.
We begin by understanding how your business runs today, find the gaps, and agree the scope in writing. Recommendations are shaped around your team, your resources and your goals.
- A rink-hour utilisation sheet with weekday slot proposals
- A trial-to-enrolment follow-up routine with call scripts
- A coach and desk role chart for peak days
- A gear register and replacement calendar
Not the right fit when: Wait if there has been a serious injury, a rink safety issue or a landlord dispute. Those need a qualified inspector, your insurer and possibly a lawyer first.
